I love web marketing. Starting in 1999 as a web designer, I quickly discovered SEO, PPC, web analytics, Google Adsense and affiliate marketing—I'm now obsessed with measurable marketing.

After graduating from university, I joined an international telecoms business as their in house designer. In my first year, I migrated to web design and taught myself SEO... which quickly became their top marketing channel—accounting for 90% of all sales.

In 2005, the next big opportunity appeared to be conversion rate optimisation, and working closely with my colleague (and former rocket scientist) Dr Karl Blanks we tripled the sales of the telecoms business within 12 months. In 2006, me and Karl decided to focus 100% on conversion rate optimisation and co-founded Conversion Rate Experts—an international consultancy that has pioneered a new, scientific approach to optimising websites.

Conversion Rate Experts was born when an article we wrote went viral, featuring on's homepage as a "Top 3 Mover & Shaker", as well as appearing on the front page of digg and delicious.

The following day Google got in touch and invited Conversion Rate Experts to become the first Google Website Optimiser Authorised Consultants in Europe. We enjoy partnering with Google to evangelise their Website Optimizer tool, and have presented our research to Google’s staff at their Mountain View and London offices.

On a day-to-day basis, we have the pleasure of optimising web businesses in many highly competitive industries, working with companies such as Apple, Google, Facebook, Amazon, Vodafone, Sony, SEO Book and Moz, as well as several fantastic smaller businesses.

I'm also a frequent speaker at Internet conferences worldwide and have presented for organisations such as Google, Moz, Search Engine Strategies, ad:tech, SMX, Conversion Conference, Institute of Practitioners in Advertising, a4uexpo, eMetrics, SAScon and EADIM...if you plan on attending any of these conferences, please come and say hello.
